The Beginning

April 2020

At the beginning of 2020 I thought “this would be the year I get my career in photography properly started”.. but, with the introduction of a global pandemic those plans came to a sharp halt. I unsuccessfully applied to several jobs, and continued to work in my retail job, occasionally shooting bits and pieces here and there but nothing with substance.

So when 2021 came speeding round I knew something needed to give - I can no longer use the pandemic as an excuse, yes it is a barrier, but instead of allowing my year to go the same as the last I needed something to inspire and motivate me into creating work that I love and achieving what I know I can. I began the year with a fire inside me to change, and to push myself out of the rut I had allowed myself to get stuck in.
So, whilst Covid is still halting our plans, I am taking back control by starting an online part time MA in Photography with Falmouth University. I am feeling more motivated than ever and ready to get started.

I am going to use this blog as my creative research journal to log my journey, this is all being made as part of an accredited education programme and entirely for educational purposes.
